When strolling in Taipei, I was fascinated with the residential area that I happened to enter. Tropical plants shadowed the wall. Vines showed their faces from the balconies of the apartments. Passing by the street, there were the decorated lattice windows of the houses.
Buildings and nature were in harmony, and I caught a glimpse of people's lives there. Each small slice of life was beautiful. I continued walking.
This street is called Qingtian Street, and used to be the residential area of elite bureaucrats during the time of Japanese occupation. There are still some Japanese houses left here.
Chinese tea experience at Qingtian Tea House
The area around here is called the Kang Qing Long area, which consists of Yongkang street, Longquan Street and Qingtian street. Several shops use renovated old private houses as tenants.
Qingtian Tea House is one of them, and you can enjoy traditional Chinese tea at the old private Japanese house.
They had Chinese and Taiwanese teas. This time I selected Ali Shan Oolong Tea from Taiwan. The staff explained in Japanese about Chinese teaware and manners of Chinese tea.
The first tea was made by the staff, and then I made it by myself, adjusting brewing time for my liking.
The room was located in front of the courtyard, and I took my time having tea in the quiet place. It was my first time to experience authentic Chinese tea, and I relaxed and enjoyed the moment.
